Resumo: Durante o período clássico em Atenas, os sympósia desempenharam um importante papel entre os membros da aristocracia descontentes com os rumos que o regime democrático havia tomado. Tal festividade era cenário para encontros políticos e homoeróticos, além de proporcionarem divertimentos entre os comensais. Nestes encontros, os versos produzidos pelo poeta Teógnis de Mégara no século VI a.C. eram recitados e os conselhos do eu-poético se convertiam em alento para os atenienses que desejavam o retorno do poder político às mãos da aristocracia. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a relação existente entre os banquetes aristocráticos atenienses do período clássico e os ideais políticos e amorosos de Teógnis impressos nos Theognidea.

Abstract:Politics, homoeroticism and Theognis of Megara poetry in Athenian sympósia of classical period.

Abstract: During the classical period in Athens, sympósia played an important role among members of the aristocracy discontented with the direction in which the democratic regime had taken. This festival was the scene for politicians and homoerotic encounters, in addition to providing entertainment between diners. In these meetings, the lines produced by Theognis of Megara poet in the sixth century BC were recited and the advice of the self-poetic developed as a relief to Athenians who wanted the return of political power to the hands of aristocracy. The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the Athenians aristocratic banquets of classical period and the political and romantic ideal of Theognis printed in Theognidea.
