O Fim da História e o Último Homem
Resumo
THE END OF HISTORY AND THE LAST MAN
O presente artigo objetiva analisar, criticamente, uma das obras mais polêmicas publicadas no início da década de 1990, qual seja O Fim da História e o Último Homem, de Francis Fukuyama. Parte-se, então, de uma tentativa de compreensão das ideias e construções teóricas do autor a respeito do que este considera como o fim da História e o último homem e, neste sentido, busca-se expor os principais impactos da utilização desses conceitos nas relações internacionais por vir. É mister salientar que, tanto a abordagem de Fukuyama como a própria existência do livro em si, umbilicalmente se vinculam ao contexto histórico-político da queda do Muro de Berlim e à correlata abertura da ex-URSS à economia e à cultura ocidentais.

ABSTRACT
The present article aims to critically analyze one of the most polemical books published in the early 1990’s: "The End of History and the Last Man" wrote by Francis Fukuyama. It tries to understand the author’s ideas and theoretical constructions about the end of history and the last man and also seeks to expose the main impacts of using these concepts in the future, especially in the international relations. Moreover, it is important to notice that Fukuyama’s approach and the existence of the book itself are inseparably linked to the historical and political context of the fall of the Berlin Wall and to the related opening of the former USSR to the economy and western culture.
